How to Convert Audio CD to MP3
By subkie
Some of you might not know that the fastest and easiest way to convert your Music CD Collections to MP3 is via Windows Media Player which comes free with your Windows. You may also download the latest version of Windows Media Player from Microsoft.com.
To convert or rip the audio cd to MP3, first of all, you need to set the options for rip music under tools menu as shown in the picture.
Under the Options screen, select RIP Music tab then choose the folder you want your MP3 songs to be saved to. For example, I've chosen C:\ music.
Then you can edit what you want to see in your filename by choosing File name Options. I suggest you choose the artist and the song title to ensure you can identify the song later on.
You may choose to RIP the disc automatically when inserted and choose the audio quality. The higher the quality will result in a bigger file size. Choose the best quality if your gadget got plenty of space otherwise stick to the default quality of 256 kbps which should be alright for stereo sound gadgets.
When CD is inserted and autoplay on the computer, click on the RIP button and the CD will be ripped automatically by the Windows Media Player. You can untick songs that you don't want to convert while it's ripping the first song.
Ripping in Progress
Once all the songs you selected were ripped and converted to MP3, you can see them in the folder you selected in the options. In my case it's in the c:\ music
You may now copy the files to your MP3 player and enjoy the songs.

Thanks for your comment mynameisnotpaul. Many people doesn't know this function exists within WMP. I guess Microsoft doesn't want to expose or promote this.

This is great! I think people get too wrapped up into trying to find some awesome program via the internet to complete tasks that can already be completed on pre-installed software on their computer. *shakes head* Great hub! :)
